Where do I start?

How do you even begin the process of finding the right therapist for you?? At Stark Therapy Group our mission is to make sure you are matched with the best possible fit for your unique needs. Listed below are some actionable and practical steps that can help you move through the overwhelm paralysis and then empower you to step into your new therapist’s office.

Top three tips to find the best fit therapist!

  1. Get specific!

What are you looking for? Do you need someone that specializes in Eating Disorders, Trauma, LGBTQ+ or Anxiety? Make sure you include those in your search. Do you prefer in person or virtual therapy? A female, male or non-binary therapist? Are you looking for a therapist who is a Person of Color? Are you looking for a specific type of trauma therapy, like Brainspotting? Incorporating more specific things you’re looking for should help narrow down the result list a bit. You will likely still have a long list of therapists to choose from. The beautiful thing about having an abundant amount of options is YOU get to narrow it down based on your specific needs and preferences!

  2. Reach out to your top three!

Pick out your top three choices based on the above search criteria. Make some calls or send an email! If you don’t vibe with your top three choices, you can always go back to the drawing board and look for others. But reaching out to more than three at the start can get confusing and overwhelming.

  3. Schedule your first session!

Scheduling the first session can be one of the scariest things to do. But trust me, you can do it! If you feel comfortable after your free 15 minute phone consultation, book your first session. There can be a lot of anxiety and procrastination when it comes to actually starting therapy - That’s SO normal. Starting therapy can be scary! One way to take the edge off is jump right in while the water is warm. You have already put a lot of time and effort into finding your right fit, so use that momentum to book that first appointment while you are on the phone with the therapist already!
